The writing was on the wall for Cyprus BXL FC from very early in the game last night against Poland at the ISB. 20 minutes into the game Poland was 3-0 up, leaving the Cypriots wondering where the game had gone. A disappointing night overall, but one that must be rapidly forgotten if Cyprus BXL FC wants to stay in sight of its objectives.
The lethargic start was what cost the game to Cyprus BXL FC last night. Coming onto the pitch with a much changed lineup due to several absences, the Cypriots couldn’t deal decisively with the long diagonal balls of their opponents from central defense to their flanks, and paid the price for their lack of concentration. Poland managed to penetrate through the Cypriot defense three times in the first half and put the game away.
During this time Cyprus BXL FC had some possession and a handful of good chances that didn’t materialise into a goal that would put them back in the game.
They were better in the second half owing to some changes made by the coach, which allowed them to regain the initiative. Poland was pushed into its own half and the Polish goalkeeper went through difficult times. The numerous chances they created were however either squandered or thwarted by the Polish defensive line.
They did manage to get one back late in the game with new arrival Sakis Agoraki, but that was not to herald a revival to their hopes, as Poland soon scored its fourth and sealed the scoreline.
Gogakis once again excelled in the goal, making some excellent saves, including a penalty with the score at 3-1.
Starting XI: Gogakis, Karides, Dellopoulos, Antonakopoulos, Noulis, Anastasiou, Voudouris, Georgakoudis, Anastasiades, Severis, Rossides (Trikoutsis, Agoraki, Charalambous, Leontiou, Tsangaris, Gogos)
Next game for Cyprus BXL FC is against Italy on Sunday at Ixelles (21.00)
A very frustrating evening. We didn't deserve to lose like that and can clearly do much better. ATE GIE MOU!
ReplyDeleteheheheh. I think that Polish team was much better last evening. But I was aware that CY missed some good players. Nevertheless, you had a risky tactic to play very high knowing that Polish strickers are very fast. :) good luck with Italy.
