Cyprus BXL FC beats France 2-1 in friendly

Cyprus BXL FC beat France 2-1 last night, in its last friendly before the beginning of the regular season campaign against Denmark this Thursday.

The game was a dress rehearsal for Coach Nikolian, who gave time on the pitch to all 18 players present. Most notable were the returns of Antonis Leontiou and Telemachos Telemachou after long-term knee injuries.

Judging on last night's performance, Cyprus BXL FC seems to be in good stead for the first game of the season. Solid in defence and creative in attack, the team created many scoring opportunities, without leaving its opponents much breathing space in its own half. The midfield, particularly in the first half moved the ball around confidently and initiated much action going forward.

The goals were scored by Kyriacos Charalambous in the first half, the culmination of smooth passing and movement in the second half of the pitch, and by Pavlos Dellopoulos with a powerful header from a corner kick in the dying minutes of the game

Two Cyprus BXL FC players had to be substituted with injuries in the course of the game. Goalkeeper PanikOs received a blow to the head after coming head-to-head with an advancing attacker (Severis wearing the keeper's gloves for most of the game), while striker Rossides limped off with pain from an old knee injury. Both players are doubtful for Thursday's season starter.
