Cyprus BXL FC thrash Denmark 4-1 in season opener

Cyprus BXL FC started their season in magnificent style, comprehensively beating Denmark 4-1 at the ISB last night. Alex Anastasiades scored his first two of the season, while Papoutsas and Anastasiou scored the other two, in a game which the Cypriots made look very easy.

Masterfully orchestrated by Yiannakis Yiangoudakis alongside Coach Nikolian, the Cypriots started the game with Telemachou and Antonakopoulos in central defence, Karides and Leontiou as full backs, and Anastasiou, Fossati and Papoutsas in the middle. Voudouris and Charalambous where on the wings, and Anastasiades up front as the lone striker.

The result was the stuff of dreams for Cyprus BXL FC: steely in defense, they went forward with great conviction and ingenuity to attack in waves that had the Danes looking almost frightened. 25 minutes into the game the Cypriots had already scored three, while Denmark was struggling to push the ball beyond its own half.

In the second half, the Cypriots were comfortable in the driver’s seat, never allowing their opponents hope of a comeback, even after Denmark scored from the penalty spot. Giving up some possession but always rock solid in the back, they kept a firm grasp on victory, even when the coaching duo substituted seven of the starting eleven.

Cyprus BXL FC next face Estonia on October 6th for their second game of this season.
